Margaret Thatcher's History of the World by Andrew Moncur
Following Mrs Thatcher's statement, made during its bicentenary celebrations, that the French Revolution was an event of only minor historical significance, Guardian Diary editor Andrew Moncur invited his readers to submit other examples of how our Leaderine might revise great moments in history to fit Thatcherism. They flooded in - from Adam and Eve deliberately making themselves homeless to Wilberforce's anti-slavery campaign being an example of wet liberals and moaning minnies undermining market forces and the entrepreneurial spirit of the age. Collected together in one volume, and illustrated by cartoonist David Austin, these reinterpretations of world history offer a guide to Thatcherism as it might have been applied since the beginning of time.
