Tassel Making Summary

Tassel Making: Revealing the Secrets of How to Make the World's Most Gorgeous Fabric Decorations by Anna Crutchley

This history of passementerie - or the making of tassels and trimmings - is long and prestigious. From its distinguished antecedents in the great houses of Europe and America, the tassel is still much-favoured by contemporary designers and decorators. The secrets of the tassel makers have been well guarded, but the techniques revealed in this book for creating exquisite tassels at home are accessible to everyone - all that is required is a little equipment, the appropriate threads and yarns, following of instructions, and some patience.

With this unique book you can create your own wonderful, opulent tassels at a fraction of the costs of commercially-bought trimmings, and in the style and colours of your choice. Step-by-step photographs make the assembly of the most fanciful tassel straightforward and accessible: clear guidance is given on all the special equipment you may need, and every project clearly details the threads used to reproduce exactly the result shown.
With over 350 beautiful photographs, Tassel Making is the most comprehensive and accessible volume yet published on the subject.

About Anna Crutchley

She teaches textiles in Cambridge, where she lives, and gives regular design workshops. Her work has been featured in many magazines including Country Living.
