Gender, Youth and Culture Reviews

'This is an extremely well-written book: really clear and enjoyable to read...a vital text for undergraduate and postgraduate students of gender or youth studies, but also provides a comprehensive up-to-date compendium of research on gender and youth across the disciplines of sociology, education and geography, for the wider academic community.' - Sumi Hollingworth in Gender and Education 'Gender, Youth and Culture serves as an excellent example of how theoretical insights can be brought together with lived experience. The authors combine intellectually stimulating and challenging discussions with examples from young people's everyday lives. Extracts of conversations by young people are commonly used to illustrate complex theoretical arguments. This does not only mean that the theory becomes more accessible but it actually becomes even more relevant. I have to admit to being impressed by how successfully popular culture characters such as Ally McBeal and Carrie Bradshaw are combined with theorists such as Foucault and Derrida... It is difficult to find something major to criticize in this excellent production.' - Sofia Cele in Geografiska Annaler: Series B, Human Geography '...a well-researched text about how gender is impacted in our new global, postindustrial society.' - Kerri Kanelos, Feminist Review (www.feministreview.blogspot.com)
