Aimed primarily at postgraduate doctors who are embarking on specialist training with a view to becoming psychiatrists, this book is intended to provide an introduction to the practice of psychotherapy. It is not intended as a guide to passing examinations, although it may be useful in answering questions about psychotherapy in such examinations as the MRCPsych. It is intended to be a practical manual for the inexperienced doctor who is faced with a patient who has been referred for psychotherapy.
