Through time use surveys, this report breaks down the ways in which women contribute to the rural economy through their paid and unpaid work. Analyzing the impact of gendered roles in care and domestic work, as well as in work outside the household, this report calls for increased public investment to address welfare needs including in universally accessible, high-quality care services, and cash transfers to women. The report emphasizes the need to relax constraints on women's time and improve their access to the labor market.
