Braidmaking Summary

Braidmaking by Barbara Pegg

In this companion volume to Weaving without a loom, Barbara Pegg look at braidmaking, one of the oldest of the textile crafts which still has a strong appeal today. She discusses the many forms of braidmaking - plaiting, finger braids, knotted braids (macrame), looped braids (French knitting and crocheting), and woven braids as well as tassels and fringes. Clear line drawings assist her explanations of the techniques involved, and there are tips on finishing off items and making variations to patterns. This is a valuable practical handbook for braidmakers of all standards. Barbara Pegg is a teacher at a community college in Devon. She has been weaving and braidmaking for many years and is an acknowledged expert in the field.
