First published in 1996, Kolla is investigating a murder. A young woman is the victim of a vicious attack, and the grotesque details of the slaughter appear to be well-rehearsed, even theatrical. As the case unfolds, Kolla finds details of her own past are being written into the story, and she seems to be playing more than just a walk-on part.
