This new edition takes account of changes since the first edition. There are three new chapters looking at the growing importance of Europe and the Community to British trade unionism, at the political role of unions during the Thatcher years, and at aspects of the Labour Party-union relationship. Part one contains the main historical analysis whilst the second part looks at recent issues affecting unions in politics. Its aim is to provide as wide-ranging an introduction to an ever-changing field as possible.
