Quanah Parker was a legendary Comanche warrior who allowed his people to make the transition from tribal life to civilian society without the loss of their identity as independent Americans. This study explores the years 1850 to 1911, providing a chronicle of the last brutal wars between the Comanches and Texan settlers and showing how Parker led his people with foresight and bravery.
