First published in 1977 this accessible general overview of Canadas contribution to the Second World War and of the wars effect on Canadas evolution. This revised edition incorporates new information, particularly in the realms of intelligence and cipher, allowing new interpretations of policies and operations. It also makes new judgements on Canadian generalship.

Out of the Shadows Reviews

"... a skillful combination of military, economic and social history, at once rigorous and readable, and copiously illustrated. It's still the first volume I would offer to a newcomer to the general subject."

-- Brian Kappler * The Gazette *

"The book will be of interest to those seeking to learn what public relations practitioners and consultants really do. Corporate executives will have a good chance to expand their personal knowledge of public relations methods, the same for government officials, as well as students of business and public affairs."

-- George Bonavia * From my Bookshelf *

"... this book warrants a place in public-relations course studies."

-- Sidney Allinson * CBRA *

"PR is interesting reading ... the book is content rich."

-- Walt Romanow * Canadian Journal of Communication *
