When Milwaukee police entered Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment in July 1991, they discovered that for some time this quiet man had been living amidst the debris of an orgy of killing. Severed heads and human torsos - the latter in varying stages of decomposition - were found in filing cabinets, boxes and the refrigerator. But if anything could be more disturbing than the brute horror of this scene, it was the evidence that Dahmer had been using these human remains not only for sexual gratification, but as part of a dark ritual of his own devising - to furnish a shrine to himself.
