This source book for GCSE Art and Design has ben developed to help students understand and appreciate different types of art and design, from paintings by famous artists to scratch drawings, all of which are explained and discussed in detail. The book reflects the emphasis on critical and contextual studies and integrates elements of art appreciation, art history and practical skills. The book is in two parts, the first examining drawing, line, shape, form, colour and surface. Various artists are introduced to highlight each topic, with practical study exercises. The second part of the book consists of examples of content. Each topic can be developed as the centre of a network of related studies.
