A Day in a Medieval City Reviews

"Now mass is over. The working day finally begins, and we are still only at about 6 A.M. After early breakfast - there will be another at around 9 A.M. - everyone gets busy. The artisans open their shops; the doctors, wearing their characteristic reddish purple caps and red gloves, commence their rounds; the criers are making themselves heard round the wagon of the itinerant haberdasher; the market gardeners head out to the fields; and domestic animals crowd the streets, which suddenly burst into life." - from the Introduction by Arsenio Frugoni"
