Ice Cream: From Cassata Semi-Freddo to Cider Apple Sorbet by Chris Tanner
With a history spanning 200 years, ice cream has, over time, developed from its original recipe of ice mixed with fruit into the popular and beloved dessert we know today. In Ice Cream, the Tanner Brothers have compiled a stunning array of recipes, updating the traditional ice cream concept and adding their own unique twist. They offer a variety of irresistible recipes, ranging from simple flavours such as Strawberry Clotted Cream to more innovative delicacies such as Maple and Lavender flavoured ice cream and Goat's Cheese and Balsamic Ripple Ice. From sorbets to savoury ices, the book has a recipe to suit all tastes, from the most seasoned chocolate lover to those with more sophisticated palates. Developed by the Tanner Brothers at their restaurant in Plymouth, the recipes are accompanied by mouth-watering photographs and easy-to-follow instructions, rendering the art of ice-cream-making accessible to everyone. Chris and James Tanner both trained with the Roux Brothers and worked in numerous restaurants around the globe, notably in the US, London and France. They opened their own Tanners Restaurant in Plymouth in 1999. In 2001 they began their TV career appearing on Carlton TV's Food Network Daily, then numerous appearances on Ready, Steady, Cook, after which James quickly became a regular and now continues to appear on shows such as BBC's Saturday Kitchen and Good Food Live for UK Food. More recently, the brothers filmed a 15-part series of their own, entitled The Tanner Brothers.
