Hitherto Summary

Hitherto by Christina Chitenderu

The journey to achieving your dream is never easy, especially when all odds are against you. From a young age, Aneni was considered talented and ambitious, always dreaming bigger than the confines of her small village in Zimbabwe. She yearns for greener pastures and better education so she can help her thriving parents and keep their house from falling apart. One day, she decides to embark on a journey outside her home country, hoping for better financial opportunities in Mozambique to sponsor her bigger dream, setting foot in the United Kingdom as the country experienced economic crisis. Without a passport, and with only a small bag and a rucksack full of her meagre belongings, she attempts to cross the border illegally. With courage and determination, Aneni sets off on a perilous journey in search of a better life. But what will happen if a naive girl tries to navigate the world in which she's not always welcomed? So broad was the will, so narrow the means.
