This is a miniature edition of the author's picture book based on the popular children's rhyme "Ten in the Bed". One by one Hedgehog, Mouse, Nelly, Zebra, Ted, Rabbit, Croc, Bear and Sheep tumble out of bed and make their way to the kitchen. But when they've all gone the little one says, "I'm cold! I miss you!", and they all come bounding back again, and there are ten in the bed once more. Penny Dale has previously illustrated "Rosie's Babies" (winner of the 1990 Best Books for Babies Award), "The Stopwatch" and "Once There Were Giants", as well as writing her own picture books, "Wake up, Mr B!" (commended for the 1988 Kate Greenaway Medal), "Bet You Can't!", "Ten in the Bed", "Ten out of Bed", "The Elephant Tree", "All About Alice" and "Play with Alice and Laura".
