Rather than offer a brief survey of two millennia of tradition and practice, the author of this book focuses on three major moments within the eucharistic tradition - the period of the New Testament, the period before Nicaea and the age of Thomas Aquinas - taking full account of liturgical texts and practices, prevailing theologies and related spiritualities, and all with an eye to contemporary needs and questions.
