Body Story by David Williams, Ph.D.
"Body story" is a Channel 4 series which takes viewers on a journey through the most fantastic organism on earth: the human body. Using state-of-the-art technology - microscopic cameras, thermal imaging, sophisticated computer graphics by Bristol-based company 4:4:2 who also worked on Attenborough's "Private Life of Plants" - the series and book show the inner workings of the body in detail. Each chapter deals with a specific area of experience taking us through the human life cycle: arousal and sex; pregnancy and birth; infection; bone and skin repair; heart attack; and ageing and death. Using cas studies, "Body Story" explores how the body reacts to the critical events in a human life. The human body, inside and out, will be shown in vivid detail through advanced filming techniques and special effects. This illustrated book features the visual imagery shown in the television programmes alongside a text which discusses the latest thinking in biology, anatomy and physiology.
