The majority of people in the community with moderate to severe disability have neurological diseases. This book focuses on the use of standard measures in the management of people with disability arising from neurological conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, and head injury. It should therefore be of interest to all doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses and social workers involved with helping such patients. It starts by outlining the World Health Organization model of impairment, disability, and handicap, and then discusses some general principles underlying the use of measures. Specific areas such as the assessment of mobility are also discussed.
