Politics and policy are discussed within each of the four spheres of a nurse's environment: the workplace, government, community, and professional organizations. Contributed to by over 100 nurses, the text includes vignettes exemplifying principles discussed, detailed explanations about the process of change, policy development and analysis, and politics in the four spheres. Other areas addressed are the role of the courts, organizing and mobilizing for action, the involvement of specialty organizations, health care financing and marketing policy issues. This edition includes increased coverage of the policy process and offers a new chapter addressing health care economics as well as expanded content on health care financing. There is also a chapter on political analysis and strategy.
