Derbyshire in the 1930s Summary

Derbyshire in the 1930s: A Lantern Slide Journey by Donald A Rooksby

The photographs are the work of Arthur Rooksby, an amateur photographer from Derby who used them for lantern-slide shows in church halls around the county. There are plenty of stunning views of the Derbyshire countryside that would have guaranteed an appreciative response from his audiences. These lovely images of Derbyshire will be enjoyed just as much today as they were when they were first projected in darkened church halls seventy years ago. Donald Rooksby, son of the photographer, introduces the photographs and describes the background to the views.
