Assessing Educational Leaders Summary

Assessing Educational Leaders: Evaluating Performance for Improved Individual and Organizational Results by Douglas B. Reeves

While plenty has been written about evaluating teacher performance, there is a dearth of material related to evaluating educational administrators. Douglas B Reeves, a national expert on the topics of educational assessment and accountability, writes a book that draws on the current research, theory, and best practices of leadership, organizational performance, and personnel evaluation. The book would contain the information and tools necessary to evaluate all types of educational leaders and improve performance.

Doug Reeves' Assessing Student Leaders is a practical, compelling tour de force. If you ever had doubts (as I confess I did) that assessing leaders could have a powerful influence on school quality, think again. This is one of the most important books I have read in some time. -- Mike Schmoker
Assessing Educational Leaders boldly addresses sensitive issues and, more important, provides innovative ideas and solutions. -- William Harbermehl, Superintendent
Assessing Educational Leaders will be a valuable tool for superintendents, school boards, and other school leaders who are interested in taking the next step toward ensuring high performance for all students, all schools, and entire systems. -- Chris Wright, Superintendent
