The Night's Circle by Duncan Haughey
As a result of a road traffic accident Duncan suffered a serious spinal cord injury. Aged 17, paralysed and confined to a wheelchair, and with dreams of joining the Parachute Regiment now in tatters he set about rebuilding his life. Determined not to let his disability stand in his way he overcame many physical problems and eventually obtained a BA degree with the Open University. He was Chairman of Huddersfield's Community Health Council for many years and Chairman and cofounder of Huddersfield's Crossroads scheme which provides care for carers. Later he became a Senior Officer in Local Government at Wakefield before retiring due to ill health. Duncan is a voracious champion for the disadvantaged and over the years has become involved in many local disability issues serving on several Social Service Committees. He is also a School Governor. His wide range of interests include literature, antiques, music, ballet and the theatre. He is a talented artist and writer. This book is truly inspirational, Duncan's compassion and positive outlook on life has touched the hearts of so many people. Friends and readers alike. Motivated by his experiences he wrote the Night's Circle, it's a story of love, relationships, humility, and fortitude. It covers pain, suffering, challenges, hope, humour and gives us a sense of what it is like to have travelled his path.
