Gervase Fen has two corpses whose deaths seemed linked in a mysterious manner. The first was the remains of Edwin Shorthouse, the most feared, hated and uncooperative member of the cast. The second, a junior singer in the chorus and aspiring opera-composer, was a married man of just two days.
