The screenplay of the new film from the Coen brothers (Raising Arizona, Fargo, O Brother, Where Art Thou) updates the screwball comedy style to modern-day Los Angeles, but with a devilishly twisting plot and that distinctive Coens touch.Miles Massey (George Clooney) is a fabulously successful shyster divorce attorney. Glutted with his own good fortune, he is in search of fresh challenges when he meets multiple-divorcee Marylin Rexroth (Catherine Zeta-Jones): a hard-headed woman in pursuit of financial independence by serial matrimony.
