Summary

Born in 1929, Frances Clark grew up in the tenements of Liverpool. At 29 she moved to Kirkby where, in the 1960s, she became involved in local politics. In 1976 she began 16 years of tireless campaigning as a Labour councillor, which culminated in her appointment as Mayor of Knowsley (1991-92).
