The Looking Glass Wars: UnderFire Summary

The Looking Glass Wars: UnderFire by Frank Beddor

Get ready for another mind-blowing adventure from Wonderland--a story shot straight through the Pool of Tears. Wonderland's elite forces of light must unite to battle the harbinger of darkness in the unforeseeable conclusion to CROSSFIRE.

Previously...Dashing Ovid Grey, rogue, criminal and ex-Milliner, was ordered by Queen Alyss to secretly locate and retrieve a Heart Crystal shard that had been hidden on Earth and was been igniting Black Imagination across the realms. Ovid's mission was accomplished but not without some surprising twists, casualties and collateral damage for the Hearts.

Now, in UNDERFIRE, Queen Alyss solicits Ovid Grey's services once again--this time to stop a devious plot hatched by the treacherous fish people of Unterlan, a plot that threatens the future of Wonderland and all who live there. As the hierarchy in Wonderland continues to shift following the creation of the Everqueen, Alyss's hand is forced as she looks for a way to protect her Queendom and combat those who challenge her rule both at home and abroad. At great cost, she makes a difficult decision to activate a new hand in the House of Cards for a covert operation. Ovid and this special deck of card soldiers must traverse dangerous lands, fight strange new monsters and go beyond the ends of Imagination to stop Unterlan.

Can Ovid Grey stack the deck in Wonderland's favor and deal himself the perfect hand to win this war? Or will Alyss's new House of Cards topple under the relentless assault of the evil Fish People of Unterlan who wish to end her reign?

About Frank Beddor

Literary sleuth, world creator and cosplay madman Frank Beddor dared to expose the true story of Wonderland in the New York Times-bestselling young adult trilogy The Looking Glass Wars. To satisfy the awakened curiosity of his readers he continued to tell the story of Royal Bodyguard Hatter Madigan's adventures during his search for the lost princess, in the Eisner-nominated graphic novel series Hatter M. The Looking Glass Wars won the Benjamin Franklin Award for best YA audiobook in 2007. Frank's latest investigation into his alternate Wonderland is his new book, Hatter Madigan: Ghost in the H.A.T.B.O.X., following thirteen year-old cadet Hatter Madigan and his fellow cadets on their adventures at the Millinery Academy. Frank lives and cosplays in Los Angeles where he is now developing the Broadway musical of The Looking Glass Wars. Co-writer Curtis Clark grew up the son of a farmer in Wacousta, Michigan. He spent his youth spun up in a tornado of comics, novels, film, television and games. It eventually spit him out in Los Angeles, where he now lives and writes. Finnish artist Sami Makkonen illustrated the graphic novels Blue and Deadworld Slaughterhouse for Desperado before signing on to visually document the travels of Hatter Madigan. He won the 2007 Sarjis award for best fantasy comic and is a two-time winner of the Ghastly Award for Best Horror Mini-Series. Sami is a graduate of the University of Tartu, Estonia, and has illustrated web comics for Chemistry Set and Split Lip as well as CD covers for Finnish artists Rodsogarden and Anssi Kela.
