Originally published in 1980, this book is published as a special edition to celebrate the life and work of Sir George Trevelyan. Sir George used his knowledge of poetry to expand the consciousness of his listeners. During his time as Warden of Attingham Park, he often used poetry to stimulate and inspire his audience. This volume contains some of his favourite poems by Wordsworth, Hopkins, D.H. Lawrence, Traherne, Coleridge, T.S. Eliot, Christopher Fry and Evelyn Nolt. Their poems are drawn together by his own insights and passionate enthusiasm for the written word. Sir George explains the secrets of good reciting, and encourages others to take up this art.
