The fourth edition of this ground-breaking anthology provides an in-depth portrait of fifty-nine poets from Britain, the United States, and the Commonwealth. Where possible, the poems are placed within the significant context of the poets own views on their work; in addition there are useful biographies and comments on the poets, who include Auden, Pound, Elliot and Dylan Thomas. Among the additions to the fourth edition are Nobel Prize winner Derek Walcott, well known American poets Sharon Olds, Louise Gluck, Denise Leverton, Galway Kinnell, Robert Hass, Robert Bly, and Rita Dove; Scottish poet Carol Ann Duffy; Irish poet Eavan Boland; and Canadians Patrick Lane, Sharon Thesen, Don McKay, Erin Moure, and B.P.
