The book Basic Design 02: Layout, is easy to understand and lots of photos and illustrations to explain the text. Great resource. Each chapter is flawlessly comprehensive and the pictures, diagrams and photographs make this book a must for any designer who is looking to fully understand the essential skills required for making a good layout. As the Basic Design 01: Format, it is a very good book to use as supporting material for my classes. * Celine Duijndam, Teacher, Hogeschool Rotterdam, Netherlands *
I have found no better text for teaching graphic design than the Basics Design series-they're the books I've been waiting my entire teaching career for. Chapter-based learning packaged in easily digestible sizes for one term with excellent, current examples of the theory presented in practice. * Darren Stebeleski, Martha Street Studio, Canada *
I liked the way the book cleverly uses itself to demonstrate its content. The use of mixed papers is a particularly useful aspect when teaching. Overall, the book is contemporary and attractive in its layout and price ... Its content is particularly relevant ... as a teaching tool for staff, and as a reference book for students throughout all four years of the Fashion Marketing programme. * Nick Sellars, Northumbria University, UK *
A really great text with wonderful images and clear explanations. * Alyssa Lang, Cal Poly Pomona, USA *
The book is very easy to read and it has an attractive layout, which is inviting as a page-turner. The chapters explore the basics of layout in an engaging manner. * Andrea Vom Ende Thoma, The Art Institute of Atlanta, USA *
An absolutely brilliant book and an absolute must have for anyone learning layout in graphic design or otherwise. It gives a excellent insight into the basic forms of layout from the simple symmetrical grid and its application to the application of more complex grids such as module based grids ... I'm impressed by the range of topics that are covered in Layout and the book overall lays a really strong ground structure for students to build upon or for people to remind themselves of. Overall I'm very impressed and happy to recommend it to all the students I teach and colleges I work with. It's a must have for all graphic students at a really good price. * Matthew Mould, University of Derby, UK *
