This third edition has been revised and updated in the light of the 194 Code of Practice. It aims to meet the multiplying demands from teachers for suppport through school-based staff development initiatives that enhance teachers' abilities to meet pupils' emotional, behavioural and learning needs through curriculum content and delivery, teacher-pupil and classroom relationships and parent involvement. The 1994 Code of Practice now postulates such staff development and support through each school's Special Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), as an integral part of a school's SEN policy. This third edition aims to help them further in their best endeavours.
