Snowdon in New York 2007 Summary

Snowdon in New York 2007 by Giles Huxley-Parlour

For half a century Lord Snowdon has proven to be a photographic polymath: documenter of the rich and poor, theatre and film, high society and social change. A long-standing contributor to Vogue, Tatler, The Times, The Telegraph and virtually every other high profile publication, Snowdon is a photographer who has recorded and defined his generation. Unsurpassed for his photographs of the arts, our retrospective selection will include images of Noel Coward, J.R.R.Tolkein, Dame Iris Murdoch, Peter Cook, The Goons, Franco Zeffirelli, Jack Nicholson, Leonard Bernstein, Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev, Sir Lawrence Olivier, Arthur Miller, Tom Stoppard, Anthony Sher, Henry Moore, and many other famous faces either posing for a portrait, or caught in action. The show also included his portraits of Princess Diana, Princess Margaret, Princess Grace of Monaco and other Royals, together with a significant group from Snowdon's documentary photograph archive.
