Black Creek Summary

Black Creek by Gregory Lamberson

In 1979, the US government relocated more than eight hundred families from Love Canal, New York, after decades of toxic contamination. Not all of the residents left: some remained in their homes on the outskirts of the disaster area. Others went underground. Hiding. Changing. Breeding. Almost four decades later, Love Canal has been renamed Black Creek Village and restored for inhabitation. The residents there and on neighboring Cayuga Island remember the tragedy of Love Canal but have no knowledge of the monsters living below the surface. When the worst snowstorm in forty years isolates all of western New York, the forgotten inhabitants of Love Canal emerge from hiding to reclaim what once belonged to them. And they are hungry.

Black Creek Reviews

This is a very good man vs. nature/monster/man's folly story...There is plenty of good action, horror, and gore. --Library Thing His writing is so intense there are times where you do not want to put down the book and see what happens to that one character you like. That is the way of Gregory Lamberson. That is how he snatches his readers and makes sure he scares the shit out of them with his stories. Horror has a true master amongst the authors and other creators of this beloved and frightening genre. --John Rizo This is a highly recommended read for those who enjoy a well-written suspense that has lively characters and a great plot. --Long and Short Reviews I was completely gripped... It's absolutely spectacular. You might want to call it The Hills Have Eyes in a snowstorm, but it's so much more. It's absolutely brutal, it's horrific, it's chilling, pun not intended there, and you could make an argument this is Greg's best novel. --Dread Central If you like horror, this is not one to pass up. I tend to enjoy horror more when the characters fight back, have a chance to survive, but have to be inventive and kick some serious ass to do so. So this novel really hit the spot for me. There are some scary moments here and some profound creepiness. A few parts might even threaten to jerk on your tear ducts. -- Michael D. Griffiths, SFReader Black Creek is not a book for the fainthearted. There are several nasty scenes, particularly towards the end of the book. But it's a great book for those who like to read paranormal horror stories with monsters. I am impressed, and I will keep a lookout for other Lamberson books. --Magdalena Johansson, Fresh Fiction An enjoyable book. Its spooky at times. The farther you get into the book, the harder it is to put down. --Brett Kelly, Pop Can 2009 IPPY Gold Medal Award Winner for Horror! Readers' Choice Best Small Press Chill Black Quill Award.
