My Pony for the Summer by Hannah Wright
Erin is a strong willed, pony mad little girl with a big personality and a great sense of humour who loves nothing more than spending time with her mothers horses. Donkey is a scruffy, preloved little Shetland pony who was once quirky and full of life but has become very grumpy, stubborn and set in his ways since the children of his family left him behind when they outgrew him. The pair are brought together by Erins parents for a summer of fun and adventure in the countryside. Their friendship inevitably blossoms into an unbreakable bond full of love and laughter. They soon discover they have a lot to learn from one another as they set aside their differences and overcome a few disagreements along the way. Donkey becomes a beloved member of the family which only makes the end of the summer so much harder when Erin has to part ways with the quirky little pony. This story perfectly captures the journey of a young child growing up with their own pony as they learn many valuable life lessons including independence, commitment and responsibility.
