Focusing on the history of Britain from 1900 to 1939, this is one of a series of three books which links a range of documents to commentary which places them in context. The aim is to draw students directly into the policy debates of the period and to help them to develop their skills of critical analysis. The documents, culled from public and private archives, include parliamentary debates, extracts from newspapers, magazines, public records, diaries and memoirs, cartoons, interviews and advertisements.
