In this study, artists speak for themselves, explaining what motivated them to paint a particular image and the process by which they achieved it. Covering the full range of painting media, watercolour, oils, paste, acrylic and mixed media, it includes artists from a variety of countries offering the reader a diverse range of styles and working methods from the traditional to the more modern and abstract. Each painting is examined in terms of colour, composition and the artist's particular technique.
