My Dear Old Thing: Talking Cricket by Henry Blofeld
This is a mixture of cricket, cricketers and Henry Blofeld's own life since the beginning of 1984 to the end of 1987. He looks at England's disasters - such as the lost series to New Zealand in Pakistan, Australian cricket, the decline of the West Indies, Ian Botham's antics and the performance of the England captains. Each chapter incorporates humerous stories and anecdotes, together with a selection of letters from listeners and readers. He rounds off the book with an account of the 1987 World Cup and England's controversial tour of Pakistan. Henry Blofeld's previous books are Caught Short of the Boundary and One Test After Another. He writes regularly for The Independent.
