The Golden Treasury of Scottish Poetry by Hugh MacDiarmid
This anthology of Scottish poetry was radical in approach when it was first published over 50 years ago. For the first time effort was made to present an all-in-view of Scottish poetry and in particular some of its Gaelic and Latin elements. Burns is here, and Dunbar, Drummond of Hawthomden, Sir David Lyndsay, Robert Fergusson and samples from the rich seam of ballads. Intermingled with these are works in translation from the 16th and 17th centuries as well as a selection of Gaelic poetry. Hugh MacDiarmid is the author of A Drunk Man Looks at the Thistle.
