Grandmother's Footsteps: Journey in Search of Penelope Betjeman by Imogen Lycett Green
Penelope Betjeman, wife of the Poet Laureate, had a lifelong passion for India. She first arrived there in 1928 and continued to visit the country throughout her life leading tours and on her own expeditions until her death on a Himalayan mountain in 1986. In 1985 she took her granddaughter on one of her legendary expeditions and six years after Penelope's death, Imogen Lycett-Green returned to India to retrace the steps of that unforgettable trip. Starting with a three-day trek to lay a memorial stone at the place of her grandmother's death in the Kulu Valley she travelled the length of India.
