Based on the latest digital cartographic technology, this atlas combines 176 pages of detailed mapping with information on world geography. The maps aim to provide balanced coverage of the world in the 21st cetury, while giving due prominence to densely populated and strategically important areas. The atlas includes a detailed 48-page Introduction to World Geography with colourful thematic maps, charts and diagrams, and text explaining key world themes such as the atmosphere, the Solar System, climate, geology, trade, agriculture industry, population and health. It also features urban area and city centre maps for 67 of the world's largest and most economically important cities, and an A-Z country-by-country gazetteer profiling all the nations of the world, illustrated with flags and locator maps. Completing the atlas is a 75,000-name index, including geographical features as well as towns and cities, with full latitude and longitude co-ordinates and letter-figure grid references. This atlas is designed to be suitable for home, college, business and library use.
