Apocrypha by Ivor H. Jones
Looking again at the Apocrypha, this book examines its history and relation to the Canon of Scriptures. It relates ancient history to the current ecumenical, multi-racial and multi-faith context. Ivor Jones' commentary has many roots. The most immediate was an invitation from the Methodist Recorder to contribute a popular monthly introduction to the Apocrypha. In the longer term, the commentary represents his commitment to more accurate translation and exegesis of the Aprocryphal books as a contribution to biblical study in general. An influence from the beginning of his studies was the work of the first Principal of Wesley House, one debt among many to the long tradition of biblical scholarship there.
