Vegetable Varieties for the Gardener by J.W. Chowings
This book provides information on available vegetable varieties based on trials grown by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany in Cambridge which has been testing vegetables and potato varieties for many years with the object of encouraging the use of the best ones. The vegetables covered range from beetroot to turnips and swedes. The characteristics of each variety are described, together with notes on cultivation, sowing and planting dates and RHS trial winners since 1975. There are special recommendations of chosen varieties of brussel sprouts, cabbages, cauliflowers and lettuce.
