This is a book for pre-vocational students on the care of elderly people within a multicultural society. The topics covered include: relationships with family and friends; the ageing process; common conditions affecting elderly people, including mental infirmity; caring for an elderly relative at home; residential care provision; dying, bereavement and coping with loss. Many case studies and a variety of questions and exercises are included. The book is written for students on a variety of pre-vocational courses, including BTEC and City and Guilds Caring Courses which include a component on care of the elderly. It should also be useful for pupils taking GCSE Home Economics (Home and Family) syllabuses.
