This text, published in earlier editions as "Ordinary Statistics", has been revised and updated, covering syllabuses for English Examining Board GCSE-level statistics, Scottish Examination Board Short Course on statistics and ScotVEC modular courses. Readers are encouraged to look critically at the way statistics are used in the media and in everyday language. Other features include: three new chapters covering the Poisson distribution, significance tests and demographic statistics; many chapters are extended to include additional topics; the text conforms to National Curriculum requirements; and includes exercises to encourage practical application of statistical techniques.
