Sissinghurst: Portrait of a Garden by Jane Brown
Sissinghurst was first created by Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson in the shell of a large, moated 16th-century house. It has flourished for 60 years, the last 35 in the care of the National Trust. Jane Brown records the history of the old house, its grandeur and decay; the transformations wrought by the making of the garden; and the inspiration behind its creation and the trials and tribulations of maintaining it today.
