Covered Bridges of New England Summary

Covered Bridges of New England by Jeffrey E. Blackman

When Jeffrey Blackman set out to capture New England's covered bridges on film, his goal was to create not just a pretty, postcard-perfect picture but to tell a story about each bridge's history and usage throughout the years. He carefully studied each bridge from many angles before shooting, and took pains to show the environment surrounding each bridge in its photo. A special section about trusses explains the carefully engineered design of the bridges, and how and why these massive, carefully built matrixes of wood hold the bridges together. Covered Bridges of New England will appeal to the thousands of visitors who come to New England each summer and fall to see the bridges and want to take home a little memento from their trip.
