The text considers the major events of the artist's life and, in particular, his relationship with the Empress Josephine Bonaparte, under whose patronage Redoute produced some of his most famous work: the pictorial documentation of the flowers collected by Josephine and cultivated in the Bonapartes' garden at Malmaison.
