Rolling Stones 1972 Summary

Rolling Stones 1972 by Jim Marshall

The world's greatest rock `n' roll band meets the world's best rock photographer. Shot by Marshall for Life Magazine while touring with the band on their monumental 1972 tour, this collection captures both photographer and band at the height of their powers, not to mention the decadence, debauchery and glory that defined 70s rock. From unbelievable glimpses of backstage parties to iconic onstage images, it's clear why Marshall's reputation is legendary. Featuring an insider forward by Keith Richards and packed with never-before-seen material, this is a sterling look at one of the most inspiration bands of all time.

About Jim Marshall

Jim Marshall's photographs adorn more than five hundred album covers, spanning everyone from Johnny Cash to Miles Davis. His cover photograph for Life from this tour of a white jump-suited Jagger remains one of the enduring portraits of the master showman. Marshall, who died in 2012 at 74, is widely celebrated as the premiere music photographer, a pioneer of the genre. His portfolio includes photos of virtually every major musician of the era, not only from the early days of rock `n' roll but including its roots in jazz, blues and country. `With an imposing presence and gruff, forceful personality, Mr. Marshall was something of a rock star himself,' said the New York Times in his obituary. Keith Richards, The Rolling Stones (founded 1962) have influenced international culture over the last fifty years through their music.
