John Moon, who is deaf and blind, lives alone and works in a furniture workshop. Leda, an actress, meets him at a community centre and introduces him to a new world, but her friends recoil from his disabilities. When Leda suddenly rejects him, John becomes painfully reconciled to his limitations.
