In a seedy unemployment agency in Clapham, two men, one old, one young, carry on a dialogue and build up a complex relationship. Corker, kept in line by an invalid sister, is full of romantic yearnings and articulate dreams. His young clerk Alex has private thoughts of a more basic nature.
